Graduate business programme short-listed for best business postgraduate programme of the year Posted: Tue, April 20, 2010 |
The Masters in Business Programme specialising in the Management of Change has been shortlisted for best business postgraduate programme of the year (2010). The awards are hosted by gradireland in association with Ireland’s best 100 graduate employers. The two new Postgraduate Course of the Year Awards recognise excellence amongst Irish postgraduate course providers and look for clear and measurable indicators of success including an excellent and consistent record of graduating students finding relevant work in Ireland or overseas and recognition of the course’s quality or ranking by external bodies. The Award panel also consider the research record of academic staff and the teaching quality and supports provided to students.
The programme is designed to develop and hone proactive change management skills essential for organisational success in today’s dynamic business environment. It provides an education in change for experienced managers in private, public or NGOs; or business owners who want to continue their career while studying. It seeks to develop participants’ reflective skills, and offers tools that will facilitate successful change programmes within the workplace.
According to Programme Directors, Drs Felicity Kelliher and Sean Byrne “the action research ethos at the core of the programme, its innovative structure, content and delivery facilitates the pursuit of in-house change programmes, while offering students significant support throughout the work-based longitudinal research project carried out by individual students in the latter part of the programme”. Remarking on the success of the application made to gradireland Dr Denis Harrington, Head of Graduate Business, WIT, stated: “There is no doubt that this programme has had a transformative impact on business school-industry engagement/interactions and has provided a framework to enhance the change capabilities of senior managers and business owners in the region. Equally our programme directors have stimulated a developmental model of management education that provides the basis for the generation of new ideas and changes within our business school”
The final awards are announced on March 20th at an awards dinner at the Burlington Hotel attended by over 250 of Ireland's most respected employers, university careers services and professional bodies.
