CAO applicants reminded of May 1 deadline Posted: Fri, April 23, 2010 |
With increased interest in higher education, applicants seeking places on undergraduate programmes beginning this autumn have been reminded by Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) of a frequently overlooked deadline in the CAO application process.
While the closing date for standard applications passed in February, ‘late’ applications are being accepted until 5.15pm on Saturday, May 1 with this allowing those who haven’t applied to date to make an application at this stage by paying a €70 online application fee.
Information about courses and the CAO application process and other aspects of student life is available from the Institute.
Olive O’Connor, Marketing & Communications Manager, WIT, said: “While there tends to be an intensive media focus on the February 1 deadline for standard applications, the option of making a ‘late’ application up to May 1 can be missed.
“An application made at this point has no disadvantages for the applicant once the courses they are applying for are not among those that have a separate set of requirements and for which applicants are interviewed or otherwise pre-assessed.
“For the vast majority of our programmes in WIT, applicants can submit their applications online prior to May 1 in the knowledge that they will have an equal chance of success as those who met the February 1 deadline.”
