The fourth annual SEEPP Enterprise Awards 2010, sponsored by Ulster Bank South East Business Centre, Ernst & Young and Enterprise Ireland is to be held this week in WIT. The SEEPP awards are open to both current and past participants of the highly regarded South East Enterprise Platform Programme. The Enterprise Awards acknowledge the contributions made by entrepreneurs to the economic development and progression of the South East region. The competition, which was based on the submission by entrants of a detailed business plan, was open to current and past participants of SEEPP. The competition is split into two categories – start-up enterprises (entrepreneurs currently participating on the South East Enterprise Platform Programme), and early stage enterprises (businesses who have taken part in SEEPP over the last three years). The finalists in each category include: Start-up Enterprises: Joe Schmitt, Zengia Ltd; Tony Redmond, RWorks; Donald Sutherland, Irish Artisan Beverages and David Delany, Neurosynergy Games Early Stage Enterprises: Rory O’Connor, Scurri; Gary Butler, Mobinet Communications; Sarah O’ Regan, Sightrisk and Peter Moir, Relequa Analytical Systems. The four finalists in each category will go head-to-head in the final event in WIT. Each finalist will present their business plan to the panel of judges which includes Brian O’Sullivan, Manager, Ulster Bank South East Business Centre; William Galloway, Partner, Ernst & Young and Clodagh Whelan, Senior Regional Development Executive, Enterprise Ireland, and will be chaired by Pierce Casey, CEO in Residence of WIT. Eugene Crehan, Programme Director, said: “The Enterprise Awards are a great opportunity for entrepreneurs in the South-East to pitch their skills and ideas against each other. We hope that this will encourage people in the area to take their innovative business ideas to the next level.” SEEPP is a one year enterprise programme that provides a range of supports to innovative start-up businesses in the South East region including business development workshops, incubation space, and mentoring. SEEPP is currently accepting applications for the next programme which commences in September 2010.
