Thinking of starting a business? Over half of SEEPP places already allocated
Posted: Thu, August 19, 2010

The management of the South East Enterprise Platform Programme (SEEPP) has reported that more than half of the places on the next SEEPP have been allocated. The next programme commences in September 2010 and the deadline for applications is Tuesday, August 31, 2010.

SEEPP is for people with new business ideas who are starting scalable export focused knowledge based businesses. SEEPP is a yearlong structured programme that supports promoters to learn new business skills critical at the start-up phase.

SEEPP has been supporting start-up companies in the South East region since 1998 and has worked with over 180 new enterprises in industry sectors including e-learning, software development, education, entertainment, food, engineering, manufacturing, environmental/waste management, energy, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and more.

Supports provided include:

  • Business management and development training (over 30 days) leading to a fully-accredited Level 9 Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development from WIT
  • Incubation facilities and business address
  • Business mentoring
  • Business networking
  • Advice on funding

Applicants should ideally have:
  • An innovative, well-thought out business idea
  • Previous third-level qualification (minimum Diploma) required for registration on the Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development. (In certain cases where the applicant does not possess such a qualification, it may be possible to assess the applicant’s work experience in lieu of the qualification)
  • High level of practical experience gained from working in a relevant professional environment
  • Full-time commitment to setting up their business

Eugene Crehan from WIT, Centre for Enterprise Development and Regional Economy said that “Despite concerns regarding the economy, there has been an increase in the level of interest from people planning on starting a business in the South East”.
