The Chaplain is available to speak with students in a confidential and safe environment and treats students with respect and dignity in all situations within and beyond the Institute. The Chaplain's Office is in room D26 and students are free to call to the Chaplain's office at any time and the Chaplain is available to students of all denominations and none.

Illness and Bereavement

With the expansion of the Institute it is possible that some things might go unnoticed. Should you be aware of a student illness, accident or bereavement, we would be grateful if you would let us know immediately.

Student Volunteers

Pastoral Care works closely with other agencies on numerous issues particularly awareness raising and connecting to a wider world. We invite students to assist with fund raising and community projects etc.

Book Aid International

Here in WIT we have an initiative to promote education within the developing world. If you have any second hand books under 10 years old and in good condition, please drop them off at the Circulation Desk in the Library.

Overseas Volunteer Work

The Chaplain's office has some information on volunteer work overseas which students may wish to access.

Fundraisers are held throughout the year for countries and projects in the developing world. The World Development Centre will visit the college, set up a stand and provide information concerning development and justice in developing countries.

SAFE fund

Some students find themselves in financial difficulty at times during the academic year. The SAFE fund committee administers a small fund which takes the form of interest free loans for students in financial crisis. The fund is geared to make a quick and supportive response and is primarily designed for unanticipated emergencies only. All enquiries to the Chaplain's office.

Students who find themselves in more severe financial difficulty for whatever reason should contact the CHART office who operate a Student Assistance Fund.

Quiet Room

The institute ‘Quiet Room’ is located on the C corridor in room C 41. It is a special place providing space to relax and reflect, to be still and heal the spirit. All staff and students are welcome in the ‘Quiet Room’

Among the reference books available for reading are reflections ob bereavement and loss, eastern wisdom, world religions and faith development.

Institute Liturgies

Mass is celebrated every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the ‘Quiet Room’ at 8.55 a.m. and on request for special occasions. While the Chaplain is available to students of all denominations and none, he will be pleased to contact other religious ministers for students at their request.

Prayer Groups

Pastoral Care supports groups who wish to meet regularly for prayer and reflection. Among those currently meeting are the Christian Union Group and the Meditation Group.

Student Safety and Wellbeing

The Chaplain works with a wide variety of committees and working groups highlighting student safety, health and wellbeing and crime prevention. Should any student have concerns or opinions on these matters please let the Chaplain know.
