Institute Nurse

The Institute nurse is Louis Nevin. Louis is a member of the student support services team within the college. Nurse Louis Nevin promotes health and well-being and liaises with the Medical Centre, Student Support Team and the Chaplain’s Office.

The main services that the Institute nurse provides are:

• Working with the Medical Centre team to provide a quality health care service for students
• Health Promotion/Education is an important aspect of the nurse’s role, enabling students to look at their overall health and well being in a pro active way.
• The nurse will be running seminars on various health topics during the year. These will include alcohol, S.T.I.'s, mental health and diet/exercise. Information on these will be posted on the web site beforehand.
• The nurse also works closely with the Chaplain and counselling services as a support and a listening ear to students who are experiencing difficulties with college life.
• The nurse provides an accident and emergency on-call service, when the doctors are not on campus.

Nurse Louis Nevin is based in the College Street campus each morning from 9.15am to 12.45pm and Monday & Thursday afternoon 2-5pm. Louis may be contacted at 087 2724422 from 8.30am -5pm Monday to Thursday & 8.30am – 4pm on Friday

Nurse Gerardine Harrison is based in the Cork Road Campus Medical Centre Monday to Friday from 9.15am -12.45pm & 2pm to 5pm. Gerardine may be contacted at 051- 302873 or 085 7739055.
