Secondary School Programmes
What are they? |
In these programmes we work with selected secondary schools from the local region. Jointly we try to |
address the educational, social and cultural barriers which impact upon local secondary school pupils access to |
and participation in Further and Higher Education. Pupils who participate on these programmes and are attending our 'linked' schools can apply |
to WIT through the direct entry (REACH) programme on completion of the Leaving Certificate. |
Schools Visit Programme |
School visits to WIT, aimed at 5th and 6th years, are organised with the co-operation of the principals/ |
career guidance counsellors to inform potential students of the course options, possibilities and application |
procedures to WIT as an Access student. These visits occur throughout the academic year and also give |
participants an opportunity to experience college life and facilities. Participants from our 'linked' schools are eligible to apply |
| for the WIT Direct Entry (REACH) Programme. |

cultural supports to access Third Level Education. The programme is linked to 18 secondary schools and |
30 places are made available each year. |
