Higher Diploma in Science in Business Systems Analysis
Course Outline:
The Higher Diploma in Science in Business Systems Analysis is a course designed to provide employees working in industry with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career as a Business Systems Analyst. It specifically addresses the needs of
(i) employees in industry who wish to gain a postgraduate study in computing and
(ii) students from a background in the non-computing area who wish to take up employment in the computing industry.
The course is ideally suited to a workforce that consists of a combination of business graduates who have little experience in the computing area and computing graduates who have limited training in the business area.
The course provides the student with knowledge in key business topics such as Project Management and Business Communications and more technical subjects like Web Design Fundamentals and Database Modelling. Graduates may progress to Masters programs in line with the normal requirements for such courses.
Mode of Study:
The course is a combination of lectures, project work and self-study, providing students with a learning experience that both delivers knowledge and the tools to acquire knowledge, but that also provides a strong practical and applied element so that the skills learned can be transferred back to the workplace. Entry Requirements:
Standard Entry
Applicants for entry to the Higher Diploma in Science in Business Systems Analysis should hold a Bachelors degree (or equivalent qualification) in a non-computing area.
Non-standard Entry
Mature students and other non standard applicants will be considered on their individual merits.
