Job title: Assistant Lecturer Intellectual Disability Nursing

This is a contract post available while the holder is on leave. It is expected to last for the period from the 1st September 2010 until the 31st August, 2013.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Applicants must
- hold a first or second class honours degree in nursing or a closely related qualification.
- Be a registered nurse in intellectual disabilities nursing with An Bord Altranais (ABA) or entitled to register with ABA on the intellectual disabilities nursing register
Desirable
Applicants should have
- A higher degree (MSc/PhD) in relevant area
- Teaching qualification
- Manual handling qualification
- First Aid and CPR qualification
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Experience in teaching nursing at third level.
Desirable
Applicants should have
- At least 3 years full-time post qualification clinical experience relevant to intellectual disabilities nursing, including mentoring of student nurses and others.
- Research experience
- Teaching experience in third level setting
- Course development experience
- Possess a qualification in manual handling and lifting.
ABILITIES
Applicants should have
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- The ability to work autonomously and to prioritise work to meet deadlines
- The ability and willingness to meet the travelling requirements of the post where required
- Motivational teaching skills
- Ability to work with key stakeholders in curriculum development
- Awareness of the culturally diverse student and service population
- The abillity to relate appropriately to internal and external colleagues in a variety of settings.
- The capacity use or learn to use core IT skills such as to learn to use Groupwise, Moodle etc
